Elizabeth Rymut (she/her/hers) is an award-winning, sustainability leader. She is committed to achieving global change.
Through her photographic and written work, as well as academic research, Elizabeth aims to address the social and economic challenges of the climate crisis.
Her significant reportings are an investigation of Midwest climate migration, multimedia coverage of climate activism, and documentation of a South Side urban farm mitigating food insecurity. Other notable features include collegiate sexuality education, collegiate gun violence safety, the 2023 Chicago mayoral elections, and racial trauma.
In academia, Elizabeth has been recognized for her independent research on incentivizing Irish landowners to plant forests. She was awarded by Trinity College Dublin for her mission as a journalist to minimize misinformation during the climate crisis and also for moderating a college-wide panel for COP28 delegates, which she attended virtually as part of TCD’s selected candidates.
She has completed a Bachelor of Arts in Photojournalism at Columbia College Chicago, in the U.S., and a Master of Science in Environmental Sciences at Trinity College Dublin, in Ireland.
Elizabeth is an American, Colorado native who previously lived in Chicago, Illinois, before moving to Dublin, Ireland. She was inspired by the movie, “Blood Diamond,” to pursue a photojournalist career.
